Tour 5 Perfectly-Designed Seattle Homes

Move over, California. Your boho chic bungalows and coastal cool homes may flood Pinterest on the daily, but Seattle is quietly making a name for itself with it's own highly inspired interior design work. A few months ago I posted part one of the Seattle home roundup and today I am finally bringing to you part two, highlighting some fabulous local digs with really great design.

Home #1: A 100+ Year Old Renovated Tacoma Home

Designer: Lindy Dodge

The first home on this list is by far my FAVORITE. Tacoma is an industrial port city about 40 minutes south of Seattle and I for one am in love with it. In addition to possessing a booming arts and creative scene, Tacoma is close enough to Seattle to commute but far enough away that the cost of living isn't as astronomically high as in the city proper. I am looking to buy a home in Tacoma in the next five years or so, so it's no wonder that I am getting a serious dose of inspiration from this Tacoma home renovation!

The couple's renovation perfectly complimented the old bones of the house while bringing in some necessary updates. I could go on and on about the thrifted collection of beautiful vintage furniture spread throughout the house, including an 1800s French-manufactured table (for $50!), a thrifted basket turned into a dining room chandelier, and a beautifully hand-crafted chest of drawers fashioned into a "spice dresser" (please teach me your thrifting ways, Lindy). In addition to a curated collection of eclectic treasures, the home also shows off a whole host of smart and beautiful DIY projects. The banquet nook seating, dining table, and copper rod open shelving are all examples of DIY at it's finest (seriously, you guys can help me renovate a house anytime). The home is beautiful and cozy but also functional, which is a design principal that I need constant reminding of. You can buy the prettiest chair in the world for your living or sitting room, but if it's not comfortable and you're never going to sit in it then what's the point?

This space is a real winner in my eyes, I can't get enough of it. For more photos and details about the renovation hop on over to Design Sponge or Thimble and Cloth.

Home #2: An Airy Tudor on the South Side

Designer: Lisa Staton

In my previous roundup of awe-inspiring Seattle homes I featured multiple home designs by local interior designer Brian Paquette (and you can bet I have another one to show you if you continue scrolling down), but he isn't the only design maven on the scene. Lately the work of designer Lisa Staton has been making a splash in a big way, and I for one am a HUGE fan! Her work perfectly encompasses the Pacific Northwest aesthetic, very modern farmhouse meets Oregon coastal. I love all the contrasting black and white details throughout the house, including everything from sconces, window treatments, and shelving hardware to various pieces of furniture set against the stark white walls and even one darkly-painted door with the prettiest vintage crystalline doorknob.

The dining room provides an interesting mixture of themes but somehow it works. The wicker chandelier above the dining room table makes the space feel light and airy and gives the room a distinct California touch, while the dark old table below it is much heavier and sets a more traditionalist tone. Then throw in some minimal artwork in cool blue tones and those Danish-style mid-century chairs (think Hans Wegner) that don't match the table at all and you have a very interesting space indeed. In theory none of these elements should work together, but somehow it's not that bad. Despite the mix of styles throughout the house it all unites under a very muted and neutral color palette which makes each space feel calm and soothing. Well played, Lisa.

Home #3: A Global 20th Century English Cottage

Designer: Lisa Staton

It just so happens that I have a second home to show you from designer Lisa Staton. Unveiled on the style and interior design website My Domaine back in May, this 1900s English-style cottage is GOALS.  A few different cultural influences, American, Indian, and British, were drawn upon for this space to highlight the clients' global roots. There is a slick black and white theme throughout the home (not unlike the previous home tour), with a few distinct pops of color from textiles, furniture, and house plants. The vintage antiques and details throughout the house add a distinct global characteristic that makes everything feel collected, and this affect is most noticeable in the entryway. All-in-all it is a very beautiful and well-designed home whose photos I could stare at for EVER.

Home #4: A Warm and Neutral Condo

Designer: Brian Paquette

You've got to give this man some credit for picking a color palette and really sticking to it! Everything in this beautiful condo fits in the brown or beige category and is complemented by gold and grey accents. I for one have a serious desire to sink into that couch and stay there all day long. Everything feels very natural and organic, making use of soft woods and textiles throughout. I think the side table in the living room made out of a burnt-looking piece of wood is one of my favorite touches. The place just feels so cozy and serene, and I love that this condo also gets a lot of natural light (and I imagine a pretty nice breeze coming off the water!). Everything is very cohesive and put-together; a definite winner!

Home #5: Traditional Meets Modern Seattle Home

Designer: Cassandra Lavalle

Coco+Kelley is definitely one of my favorite blogs out there. Her aesthetic is so similar to my own and I love seeing every new room update or One Room Challenge reveal. I particularly love the dining nook with the traditional circular table mixed with lovely textiles. Just a serene and comfortable looking area to sit and have coffee or eat breakfast. I also love her ability to source and hang art; as much as I love buying art I struggle to find the perfect home for them in my own place.

And let's just take a moment to appreciate all of the really great lighting solutions at play here. Literally every single room is outfitted with amazing lighting; sconces, chandeliers, pendants; you can scroll through photos of each room and you will find some sort of awesome light fixture that just makes you think about how badly you need that same one in your own home. Like right now. I have gleaned so much interior design inspiration from watching this house morph into it's current form on the blog, and I can't wait to see more in the future.
