Goodbye Summer, Hello Fall
Well folks, as of today the Fall Equinox is officially upon us. If you haven't already, you now have the green light to say goodbye to summer and gear up for fall. For me, this means warm beverages, chunky knits, boots, and a hearty soup on the stove. And, of course, fall home decor.
I'm not going to lie to you guys though, I'm not as enthusiastic about the whole thing this year as I normally am. Fall has always been my favorite season. I absolutely love all the cozy vibes and the vibrant colors of the changing leaves outside. My old apartment used to be on a street lined with large leafy trees that turned brilliant shades of yellow, orange, and red. Driving home on it in the fall was truly a beautiful sight to behold.
This year, however, I've found myself clinging unusually hard to the last (smoky) rays of summer. The season has always been overrated to me, but this year I can't escape the nagging of all the things left undone. Like if I had just a little bit more time and if the world was just a little bit less crazy I could make something happen.
This year I'm hounded by bikinis left unworn. Parks and beaches not visited. Hikes undiscovered. Vacations and road trips canceled. Cute sundresses that stayed mostly in my closet. The summer quickly slipped away as I spent a lot of my time at home and lived off of self-tanning lotion, iced coffee, and frequent fresh air walks around the neighborhood.
It's a disappointing and unsatisfying way to enter fall.
But like it or not, summer is gone. The weather is already changing here in Seattle, with the rain clouds returning and the temperatures beginning to cool off. Thus, it's time to turn my attention to making the apartment–which I will likely continue to spend a lot of time in–all warm and cozy for fall.
The Best Fall Home Decor Pieces From Target This Fall
Target has always been one of my go-to sources for fall home decor. I would never claim to call Target's items five stars in terms of quality, but their pieces are affordable and cute which is really all I'm looking for at this point in my life.
Whether you're looking for some faux fall foliage to add some color or some cozy pillow and throws, Target has your home covered. Everything on this list is $35 or less (and there's really only a few things that are priced in the $30 range).
As a quick note, stock fluctuates at Target frequently. Like, annoyingly so. Items regularly go in and out of stock online so be sure to check in frequently and sign up for restock alerts on items you're interested in. Additionally, in-store availability and shipping options vary from city to city and state to state, so be sure to check your local Target(s) for items that are out of stock online.
Good luck, and happy fall home decorating!
