The chaise lounge. Is it the remnant of a bygone era of "fainting couches" or a chic and timeless piece of furniture? Opinions are mixed, but I for one am not opposed to the chaise as a means for adding a contemporary vibe to any living space. Chaise lounges and daybeds have a long and storied history, one that goes all the way back to ancient Roman and Egyptian times, but if styled correctly this piece can fit right into our very own modern abodes.
Chaise lounges are essentially designed to lounge (duh) in comfort and style (picture ladies like Marie Antoinette sumptuously draped over a lounger while sipping on champagne), and they are incredibly versatile pieces of furniture. Whether you use it as a cozy place to lay under a blanket in your corner reading nook, as a convenient perch in your living room while hosting your closest friends, or as a comfortable spot to stretch out on your deck or patio, it just goes to show that the ways in which you can use the chaise is only limited by your imagination. Lounge on, my friends.
